A planned gift adds light to ELA students. The most common types of planned gifts are gifts from a will, a trust or retirement account, but can also include more-sophisticated plans such as life-income gifts (gift annuities and remainder trusts), real estate or other tax-savvy contributions. The benefit of planned gifts is that they accommodate your unique financial circumstances, may allow you to make a larger impact, and you can give in a tax-smart way. Donating appreciated securities, including stocks, ETFs or mutual fund shares, directly to the Effective Leadership Academy is an easy way to avoid capital gains taxes, receive an income tax deduction and support ELA all at the same time. Connect with us to learn more about donating stocks.
Are you over the age of 70? If so, there is an excellent way to continue your support of the Effective Leadership Academy and lower your taxes! After the age of 70½, you can make a tax-free direct gift from your IRA, up to $100,000 per year, to eligible charities, like ELA. The transfer does not create taxable income for you nor does it allow you to take a tax deduction for the gift, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your taxes.
