Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the Effective Leadership Academy camps?

Our camps help students develop essential leadership and life skills such as communication, confidence, teamwork, decision-making, self-management, and resilience through hands-on, engaging activities.

What age groups can participate?

Our camps are tailored for rising 5th – 8th grade students, providing age-appropriate leadership training and experiences.

What does a typical day at camp look like?

Camp days are interactive with games, activities, team challenges, small-group activities, reflection time, and fun, experiential learning sessions facilitated by trained instructors.

Who leads the camp sessions?

Our facilitators are experienced ELA educators and youth-development professionals, who hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and are trained in ELA’s leadership curriculum.

What leadership skills will my child learn?

Core focus areas include communication, emotional intelligence, collaboration, problem-solving, goal-setting, adaptability, confidence, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making.

How is safety handled during camp?

Student safety is our top priority. All staff are background-checked, trained on safety procedures, and camps follow structured supervision and emergency protocols.

What makes ELA camps different from traditional summer camps?

While students still enjoy fun activities, our camps uniquely blend experiential learning with practical life and leadership skills, helping students grow socially, academically, and personally.

Do students need to have prior leadership experience?

Not at all. Our programs are designed for all students, whether they are shy, emerging leaders, or already confident and ready for the next step.

What should my child bring to camp?

Comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes, a water bottle, and lunch. ELA will provide all other program materials and supplies.

Are meals or snacks provided?

Unless the camp is being hosted at a school location that is providing lunch, students will need to bring their own lunch. ELA does provide water and snacks.
