Bridging a significant gap

For many students, social, emotional, and psychological changes make the leap from grade school to high school difficult.  Transitions serves as a critical bridge program for students preparing to enter high school.

Transitions begins in the weeks leading up to the start of the school year and includes two, mid-year follow-up sessions.

The Transitions model helps students prepare to navigate a new environment, realize the importance of first impressions and presentation of self, learn to become an Iconoclastic thinker, have a deeper understanding of who they are, recognize learning styles to become an effective learner and application of new found negotiating skills for a win-win outcome.

Why does my 8th grader need Transitions?

Researchers have noted adjustment issues during this freshman year transition period such as:

  • Decline in grade point average
  • Decline in attendance
  • Lack of feeling connected

Some students may also experience:

  • Increased anxiety about school procedures & older students
  • Changes in relationships with parents
  • Social difficulties

Give your student the edge they need to succeed!

ELA has created several unique and exceptional curricula for the many initiatives on which we have partnered. We look forward to continuing our relationship with ELA, so that our students will have the opportunity to learn from the best.
